totoThe 10th event of the Aquafadas Digital World Tour took place in Tokyo on Monday – and attendees were not disappointed with what the team had in store for this final event! With an array of guest speakers covering several hot topics in digital publishing, the event was a great success.

Shueisha
With several popular digital apps already created, including Seventeen and non no, Nobuki Matsushita from Shueisha presented guests with how they had integrated digital into their publishing strategy.  Using the Aquafadas InDesign plugin, they were able to optimize their digital magazines with interactive features and create a native design, so the array of stunning images can be comfortably viewed on smartphone and tablet.

Hearst and Toppan
Having begun a partnership with Aquafadas last year, Toppan Printing Co. Ltd helped develop a more streamlined PDF Reflow technology to enable optimal magazine display on portable devices. With this technology, the large publishing group, Hearst Japan, was able to realize magazines such as Elle and Harper’s Bazaar in a cost-effective and efficient way.

Joho Center Publishing
The third and final speaker was Mr Kuramoto from Joho Center Publishing Co. Ltd, one of the first users of Aquafadas technology in Japan. It was amazing to see how they had successfully created a multi-platform application specifically designed for aiding travellers with Japanese language and conversation. The Yubisashi guide book app is based on the popular print series but with an added interactive ‘touch and talk’ feature to enable readers to listen to native Japanese pronunciation for optimal learning.

Aquafadas CEO and CTO, Claudia Zimmer and Matthieu Kopp, gave a final round up by demonstrating the powerful CreativeFlow workflow for simple and automatic content conversion that gives publishers high quality results. Attendees were then able to discuss the topics of the event in more depth with the various speakers, of course whilst enjoying cocktails.
